Joe Schuberg was the heart and soul of Cascade Ski Club when he was our manager. His untimely passing has left a hurting gap. Often Joe could be seen standing on the front porch of Cascade Lodge, surveying the front of the Lodge lot. In his honor, we would like to install a bench on the front porch. In addition, Joe was an avid grill person, loving to fire up a makeshift grill in front of the lodge and inviting members to join. We would like to honor Joe's passion and install a stone fire pit and seating arrangement. We would love your contribution in honor of Joe - may he rest in peace. The Board of Cascade Ski Club
Update June 14, 2016: We've raised over $6,000.- so far.
We had a huge turnout for the Joe Schuberg Celebration of Life event at the lodge. We are planning on having Lodge Work Days in Fall to build and create a fantastic fire pit and sturdy bench in Joe's memory - Joe will be part of this lodge forever! We would love it if you could be part of Joe's memory as well!
Founded in 1928 by Norwegian ski jumpers, Cascade Ski Club is one of America’s oldest ski clubs. Dedicated to the promotion and development of year-round recreational experiences on Mt. Hood, the club owns a rustic “Cascadian Style” Grand Lodge in the center of Government Camp. It has become a traditional gathering place on the mountain for ski and snowboard enthusiasts, racers and families since 1947.
The Lodge affords members a central location to venture into any mountain experience, including skiing, snowboarding, tubing, hiking, fishing, mountain biking and climbing. The Lodge (members only; guests can try out our lodge if accompanied by a member) offers reasonably priced dormitory-style bunks, weekend hot meals, modern facilities and fireside atmosphere to individual members and their family as well as to organized groups for overnight and day use by reservation.
